Kia Key Services — KTP Key Tool Plus and the Korean Platform Advantage

Kia and Hyundai share their fundamental IMMO architecture across almost every model in their respective ranges. KTP Key Tool Plus is the specialist machine built for this platform — it communicates with Kia’s immobiliser protocols at the depth required for all-keys-lost, spare key programming and proximity system reprogramming on every Kia model. Unlike general-purpose OBD machines that cover Korean platforms superficially, KTP is purpose-built for this group. The Sportage, Ceed, XCeed, Stonic and Sorento are all covered without restriction.

Kia Sportage is the most commonly requested model for AKL and spare key work in Central Scotland. The Sportage MK4 and MK5 use Kia’s latest IMMO generation with proximity entry and push-start as standard. KTP programmes both the transponder (engine start authorisation) and the proximity remote function in a single OBD session. The MK5 Sportage with Smart Sense keyless entry carries a relay theft risk common to all modern Korean keyless vehicles — Faraday bag storage is the primary countermeasure.

For Kia EV6 and EV9 owners, the key system is Kia’s standard Smart Key fob — not a card key or phone-based system. The e-GMP electric platform uses the same IMMO architecture as petrol Kia models, meaning KTP handles EV6 and EV9 key programming identically to a Sportage or Ceed. There is no additional complexity, no extra cost and no year limit on EV Kia models.
