Lexus Key Services — Toyota Smart Key Platform Under a Premium Badge
Lexus shares the Toyota Group platform entirely. Every modern Lexus — IS, NX, RX, GS, LS, UX and ES — uses the same Smart Key push-start architecture as the Toyota equivalents. This matters practically: the same dealer-grade equipment that handles a Toyota RAV4 covers a Lexus RX with no distinction, no separate specialist Lexus tool required, and no year limits on any model. What changes between Lexus models is only the key type and trim level, not the underlying IMMO system. The IS, NX and RX are the three most commonly seen Lexus models in Central Scotland. The NX and RX SUVs are prevalent in Edinburgh (New Town, Morningside, Murrayfield) and Glasgow (Bearsden, Newton Mearns, Milngavie). These high-value areas have documented relay theft targeting of keyless premium vehicles. Lexus Smart Entry systems are particularly common relay theft targets in Scotland’s more affluent postcodes. The CT200h was Lexus’s entry-level hybrid for over a decade and remains common on Scottish roads.
